NZ Domestic Violence Statistics
Domestic violence figures in New Zealand are getting alarmingly high especially in case of women and causing a great concern not only in our community but also for the government agencies that are trying to bring those figures down through several interventions and strategies. When we have a look at the domestic violence figures of 2015 (Source: New Zealand Family Violence Clearing House), we are encountered by staggering figure of 110114 family violence investigations conducted by Police. Women comprised 89% of the victims who applied for the Protection Orders in our courts as compared to 9% of men.
During 2015, NZ Police attended 6 homicides by Intimate Partners where all the victims were women. And not to ignore the fact that according to Police, there has been even a large number of domestic violence incidences which go unreported.
